Make Life Kind ( Published: 17/01/2025)
Year 9 and 10 welcomed the charity Make Life Kind into school to explore issues around criminal grooming and trauma. Make Life Kind provide inspirational school speakers to explore issues affecting young people. Students listened to Sosa Henkoma’s powerful story about his recovery from modern day slavery and how he found himself at the mercy of criminal gangs from the age of nine. Sosa now works as a motivational speaker and consultant on child criminal exploitation – sharing his experiences in order to educate young people and those who work with them to alert them to the signs of child criminal exploitation.

If we can do anything, let’s make life kind.
Sosa Henkoma
It was so powerful for our young people to listen to Sosa’s first hand experience of criminal grooming, and really brave of him to be so open in discussing the trauma that led him to be vulnerable to exploitation. We encourage all of our students to show our REACH value of Care and report any concerns they may have about their friends to school staff. Protecting our young people is our number one priority.

It was inspiring to hear how Sosa has turned his life around despite the awful things that happened to him when he was a child.
