Celebrating Excellence Careers Carousel at Old Trafford ( Published: 21/11/2022)
After a successful pilot event at TEMA for Black History Month in 2020, the event, created by Foundation coach Luke and hosted by TEMA Student Support Leader Mr Moncrieffe (who ran the special guests Q&A’s alongside TEMA students), moved over to Old Trafford this year.
The event provided students with the opportunity to engage with BAME professionals from a variety of sectors. These included: banking, IT, performing arts, armed forces, sports management, youth work, publishing, barbering, music production, animation and video, fashion, sport and leisure, aesthetics and catering.
Amongst the numerous guest speakers on the day was ex United striker, Danny Webber, who took part in a question and answer session with students to share insights from before, during and after his professional football career.
I loved it. We engaged with everyone, and it showed me how important it is to start thinking about our futures now and not leave things until the last minute. There are a lot of opportunities for us when we leave school and even now!

Yesterday was amazing. We got to not only learn about the importance of Black History Month, but also be educated by some amazing people. We had fun talking to the guests.
