World Book Day 2024
Did you know that reading for just 20 minutes per day can improve health and wellbeing?
Whether reading to relax or to further develop our knowledge and understanding, it is a valuable part of anyone’s routine. Every day students take part in our TEMA Reads Programme. During Progress Time, tutors read the year novel. The TEMA Read book Is an essential part of a student’s equipment.
All students have access to Manchester libraries and are supported by their teachers in English and reading to get their library card.
In December 2023, as part of the school’s commitment to engaging with Manchester’s rich cultural history and promoting reading for pleasure, Year 7 students embarked on a trip to Central Library to explore the rich and varied knowledge and culture that their city holds. Students took part in a tour of the library, visited the archives, and explored the children’s library. Students had the opportunity to dive into the broad range of captivating books the library had to offer and take these books out.
Next week, students will have the opportunity to find out what staff have enjoyed reading and take part in our giant World Book Day Quiz! All students will also receive a token which they can exchange for a free book (participating retailers can be found here).
