Young Enterprise ‘Learn to Earn’ Workshop
As part of our Personal Development and Careers offer, Year 8 welcomed Young Enterprise into school for extended workshops on financial education, careers information and goal setting.
Students worked through a series of activities on budget setting, debt avoidance and researched their future careers. Students met employers and listened to talks on different career paths, including entrepreneurship and setting up their own businesses.
I want to be a nurse when I am older so it was good to look at the different salaries and how I will budget to keep within my salary.
Hannah, Year 8
Financial and careers education play an important role in helping students to build the adult life skills that will help them to be economically stable in the future. This forms a key part of our personal development curriculum, and it has been really impactful for students to spend half a day really thinking about what they want their future to look like. You are never too young to learn how to manage your money, or look for employment opportunities, which is why Ambition is one of our key REACH values. We are really grateful to our colleagues at Young Enterprise and the volunteers from industry for working with our students today.
