Discussing the difficult issues, promoting oracy and helping boys’ mental health.

As part of TEMA’s drive to improve students’ spoken language skills and promote positive mental health and wellbeing, students in Year 10 and 11 worked over the Autumn term to create their own podcast, Becoming Men. Students discussed a range of issues to produce the six episode series which will be released soon.

The project is an original collaboration between TEMA and author and broadcaster David Scott and is the first of its kind to run in the city. Students featured on ITV’s Granada Tonight to discuss the project and promote its benefits:

How teenagers are finding their voice in front of the the microphone (on ITVX)

The lads that come weekly to do the podcast have been brilliant to work with. They all engaged from beginning to end, have grown in confidence, shown creativity and been a joy to work with.
