World Book Day 2025 ( Published: 28/02/2025)
Reading for pleasure leads to increased educational attainment across the curriculum. It also supports brain development, empathy and creativity and – vitally – it looks after the mental health and well-being of everyone.
We are proud of reading for pleasure at TEMA and promote reading across the curriculum. Students are gifted with 15 books throughout their time at TEMA through TEMA reads, in which we read together in progress time.
All students visit Beswick library during year 7 and can get their own library card, which can be used at libraries across Manchester. This year, students in year 7 took part in a storytelling workshop and years 10 and 11 have participated in author workshops to explore how identity can be shaped by and reflected in the stories that we read. We also have exciting author visits for years 8 and 9 coming up!
This week, students will take part in our annual World Book Day quiz – they will discover staff book recommendations and explore famous books and poems that enrich our lives.
All students will also receive a book token, which they can exchange for £1 off any book of their choice, or a free World Book Day book. Participating retailers can be found on the World Book Day website.
Please check out the World Book Day books and our TEMA book recommendations, which are attached at the top of this page.
